The Ombudsman demands compensation for Sofia residents due to the lack of hot water
The Ombudsman of Bulgaria, Diana Kovacheva, has sent an official request to "Toplofikatsia Sofia" for immediate inspections and compensation for citizens. The reason is the prolonged interruption of hot water in a number of neighborhoods in the capital, which is creating serious difficulties for thousands of households.
In her letter to the company's management, the Ombudsman emphasizes that consumers have the right to a quality service for which they regularly pay their bills. According to Kovacheva, frequent accidents and planned repairs that are extended without warning violate the rights of customers and require an adequate response from the supplier.
"Toplofikatsia Sofia" explains that the problems are due to outdated infrastructure and the need for urgent repair work on the heat transmission network. Nevertheless, citizens are expressing their dissatisfaction with the lack of clear information regarding the deadlines by which normal water supply will be restored.
The Ombudsman is insisting on a review of the amounts in the upcoming monthly invoices for all affected subscribers. She is calling on the company to be more transparent in its communication and to provide alternative solutions while repair work is underway.
The situation remains under observation, with institutions expected to take measures to improve service. Citizens who are affected by the lack of service can submit their complaints directly to the Ombudsman's institution for assistance.
