Dispute between Sofia Municipality and the Ministry of Health over nursery nurses
Sofia Municipality and the Ministry of Health have entered into a sharp dispute regarding the shortage of nurses in nurseries. The staffing problem is becoming increasingly serious and is causing tension between local and central authorities.
The municipality claims that the lack of sufficient medical professionals is hindering the normal functioning of childcare facilities. According to local government representatives, the state is not taking the necessary measures to make the profession more attractive and to ensure the required number of staff in the capital.
For its part, the Ministry of Health rejects the accusations and points out that the responsibility for organizing work in nurseries lies with the municipal authorities. The two institutions have different views on how to solve the problems with funding and working conditions in the sector.
This conflict puts parents in an uncertain situation, as the staff shortage could lead to limiting the admission of children to nurseries. At the moment, no agreement has been reached between the parties that would guarantee peace of mind for families in Sofia.
