Kozloduy NPP operates normally despite record low levels of the Danube River
Despite serious concerns due to unusually low levels of the Danube River, the Kozloduy NPP continues to operate normally. Experts have confirmed that the power plant is functioning stably and there is no danger to electricity production in the country.
The river level in the area of the plant has reached record lows in recent days. This creates challenges for the cooling systems, which depend on the water resources of the Danube. Nevertheless, technical teams on-site are monitoring the situation around the clock to ensure the safety of the facilities.
At the moment, Bulgaria is reporting record levels of electricity exports, which shows that the country's energy system remains stable. The Kozloduy NPP continues to be a main pillar of the Bulgarian energy sector, providing the necessary quantities of energy both for the domestic market and for neighboring countries.
The situation with the Danube River remains under constant observation by the responsible institutions. Specialists assure that all necessary measures have been taken to avoid problems in the plant's operation until water levels normalize.
