A decline in smartphone sales in Europe: What are the reasons?
The European smartphone market is seeing a significant decline in the second quarter of the year. According to the latest data from the analyst firm Counterpoint, mobile device shipments in Europe have fallen by 10% compared to the same period last year. This is the lowest shipment volume recorded for a second quarter since 2023.
Experts point to several main reasons for this negative trend. First and foremost is high inflation, which is putting pressure on household budgets and causing consumers to be more cautious with their spending. Many people are choosing to use their old phones for longer instead of buying new models.
The geopolitical situation also plays an important role. Military conflicts near Europe are creating uncertainty and affecting supply chains, which further complicates the technology sector. These factors affect not only major European markets but also consumers in Bulgaria, who are finding it increasingly difficult to set aside funds for new electronics.
Although technology companies are trying to attract customers with new features and artificial intelligence, the market remains cautious. Analysts do not expect a quick recovery in sales in the short term, as the economic situation remains complex for most European countries.
