Over 7 million tourists have visited Bulgaria since the beginning of the year
Bulgaria is reporting significant growth in the tourism sector this year. According to official data from the Ministry of Tourism, in the period from January to September, the country welcomed over 7 million foreign guests. These results show that interest in Bulgarian resorts remains high and the sector is successfully recovering from the challenges of recent years.
The statistics include both visitors to our seaside resorts during the summer season and tourists who choose our country for cultural, mountain, and urban tourism. The largest number of guests arrived from neighboring countries, as well as from countries within the European Union. Experts note that good advertising and diverse vacation opportunities are key factors for this success.
In addition to the number of tourists, there is also increased interest in smaller settlements and rural tourism. Many travelers are looking for authentic experiences, local cuisine, and nature, which helps the development of the economy in the more remote regions of Bulgaria. Investments in infrastructure and the improvement of services also contribute to this positive trend.
Expectations are that the number of tourists will continue to grow until the end of the year, especially with the approach of the winter season. Our mountain resorts are already preparing to welcome skiers and winter sports enthusiasts from all over the world. If the trend continues, 2024 could become one of the most successful years for Bulgarian tourism in the last decade.
