Bulgaria begins implementation of new anti-drone protection systems
Bulgaria is taking important steps to strengthen national security through the acquisition of modern technologies for the protection of its airspace. The project provides for the purchase of specialized anti-drone systems, which will help in better monitoring and control of the skies over the country.
Funding for the initiative is being provided through the European financial instrument SAFE. This mechanism supports European Union member states in their efforts to modernize their defense infrastructure and respond more effectively to modern threats.
The Ministry of Defense's plan includes the purchase of a total of about 10 anti-drone systems. These devices are designed to detect, track, and neutralize unauthorized flights of unmanned aerial vehicles that could threaten critical infrastructure or public order.
The introduction of these technologies is part of a broader process of modernization of the Bulgarian armed forces. With the growing role of drones in the modern world, ensuring effective protection against them is becoming a priority for many European countries, including Bulgaria.
The new systems are expected to be deployed at key locations in the country over the coming months. This will increase the level of security and provide greater peace of mind for citizens, while simultaneously improving Bulgaria's capacity to respond to potential incidents involving unmanned aerial vehicles.
