Bulgarian woman once again denied treatment in the country following a severe accident
The case of Iva Mihaylova, who was severely injured in a road accident in North Macedonia, has once again drawn public attention. Despite medical examinations having been conducted, the young woman has once again been denied a transfer to continue her treatment in Bulgaria.
The incident occurred at the beginning of October last year on the road between Kochani and Shtip. Since then, Iva has been recovering from the serious injuries sustained in the crash, but her family is facing major administrative and logistical difficulties in their attempt to secure specialized care for her in her home country.
Iva's loved ones are expressing deep disappointment with the institutional obstacles. According to them, even though doctors have confirmed the need for specific medical care, the procedures for transfer and admission to Bulgarian medical facilities remain blocked due to a lack of coordination or unclear regulations.
The case raises important questions regarding the mechanisms for providing assistance to Bulgarian citizens involved in accidents abroad. At the moment, the family continues to seek support from the responsible institutions in order to secure better conditions for Iva's recovery.
Developments on the matter are expected as the public watches to see if concrete steps will be taken to reconsider the decision. Iva's relatives hope that the institutions will show understanding and find a way to facilitate her treatment in Bulgaria as soon as possible.
