New nasal flu vaccine for children has arrived in Bulgaria
Health authorities in Bulgaria have announced the start of the flu immunization campaign for the upcoming autumn-winter season. Starting October 5, the country will begin administering a special nasal vaccine designed for children. This is an innovative method that does not require the use of needles, making the process easier and less stressful for young patients.
A total of 75,000 doses of the nasal vaccine have already been delivered to the country and distributed to the respective medical centers. This vaccine is suitable for children in a specific age group and is administered via a nasal spray. Experts advise parents to consult with their general practitioners to find out if this type of immunization is appropriate for their child.
In addition to the nasal vaccine, traditional injectable flu vaccines are also expected in Bulgaria. They are expected to be available in the pharmacy network and at general practitioners' offices by the end of October. These vaccines are aimed at both children and adults, especially people with chronic illnesses and the elderly over 65.
Health professionals remind that the flu season usually begins at the end of the year and reaches its peak in January and February. Vaccination remains the most effective way to protect against severe complications after infection with the influenza virus. Parents and citizens can obtain more information about the immunization schedule from regional health inspectorates or their personal physician.
