Ursula von der Leyen organizes regional meeting on energy connectivity with the participation of Bulgaria
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has initiated an important regional summit dedicated to energy connectivity. The focus of the discussions will be Bulgaria's role in the development of the European Union's common energy infrastructure.
The main goal of the initiative is to accelerate the transition to cleaner and more secure energy in the region. Experts emphasize that achieving Europe's climate goals requires a significant expansion of renewable energy production capacity.
According to the European Commission's plans, the capacity for production from renewable sources must increase sixfold over the coming years. At the same time, the share of electricity in the total energy mix of member states is expected to double, which will reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
Bulgaria occupies a strategic place in these plans due to its geographical location and its potential for the development of green technologies. The country's participation in this meeting is a key step toward closer cooperation with neighboring countries and EU partners.
It is expected that the meeting will lay the foundations for new projects that will improve the energy security of the entire region. Leaders are also expected to discuss ways to finance these large-scale infrastructure changes, which are crucial for the future of the European economy.
