The Ministry of Health plans changes to flu holidays
The Bulgarian Ministry of Health has announced a new project that aims to change the way schools respond to seasonal flu waves. The institution's main idea is to limit the practice of mass school closures and the declaration of extended flu holidays.
According to experts from the ministry, frequent interruptions to the learning process have a negative impact on the quality of education and the students' mastery of the material. Instead of complete school closures, the new measures will focus on stricter health control and preventive actions within the classrooms themselves.
It is planned that the efforts of health authorities will be directed toward the early detection of sick children and the isolation of only individual classes, if necessary. This way, the remaining students will be able to continue their education without interruption, even during peak periods of viral infections.
Although the project is still under discussion, it has sparked a wide public debate among parents, teachers, and doctors. It is expected that all details regarding the implementation of the new rules will be clarified in the coming weeks to ensure both the health of the children and the normal rhythm of the school year.
