Large-scale renovation begins on Sofia's Maria Luiza Boulevard
Sofia Municipality is beginning a long-awaited renovation of one of the busiest boulevards in Sofia – Maria Luiza. The project is worth over 8 million euros and aims to modernize the infrastructure in the central part of the city, which has not undergone major renovations in over half a century.
The main focus of the construction activities is the replacement of the tram tracks, which have been in poor condition for decades. In addition to the tram lines, the plan includes a complete reconstruction of the overhead contact network that supplies electricity to public transport.
The project also provides for improving the urban environment by upgrading street lighting and modernizing the station platforms. The goal is to make them more accessible and convenient for passengers, ensuring greater safety and comfort during daily travel.
The renovation is expected to hinder traffic in the area for a certain period of time, about which the municipality will inform citizens in a timely manner. After the completion of the activities, Sofia residents will benefit from faster and more reliable tram transport in the heart of the capital.
