Strong storm leaves thousands without electricity in Southwestern Bulgaria
A powerful storm with torrential rain, hurricane-force winds, and frequent lightning struck Southwestern Bulgaria over the past 24 hours. The bad weather caused serious material damage and created difficulties for residents in the region.
In the city of Blagoevgrad, strong wind gusts knocked down several large trees, which blocked roads and damaged parked cars. Fire department crews and municipal services are working on the ground to clear the fallen branches and ensure safe passage for citizens.
The most serious issue is with the power supply. Dozens of settlements in the area were left without electricity due to broken power lines and fallen poles. Teams from the power distribution company have been mobilized and are working to repair the faults, but restoring power is taking time due to the difficult weather conditions.
Fortunately, there are currently no reports of serious injuries as a result of the storm. Local authorities are urging residents to be cautious and avoid staying under trees or near advertising structures until the weather calms down completely.
Forecasters warn that the unstable weather in the country will continue over the coming hours. Citizens are advised to monitor the latest forecasts and take necessary safety measures during strong winds and thunderstorms.
