Activists place "TOXIC" sign in front of TPP Bobov Dol
Activists from the environmental organization Greenpeace Bulgaria organized a protest in front of TPP Bobov Dol. On Wednesday, they placed a huge sign with the word "TOXIC" directly under the plant's chimneys to draw attention to the air pollution problems in the region.
Through this action, the environmentalists expressed their dissatisfaction with the continued operation of the coal-fired power plant. According to them, the plant's activities have a serious negative impact on human health and the state of the environment in the area of the town of Bobov Dol.
The management of TPP Bobov Dol has repeatedly stated that they are planning changes to the production process. They claim that the plant is gradually transitioning to the use of natural gas and other alternative fuels, which are considered less harmful compared to coal.
Despite these assurances, environmental organizations remain skeptical about the pace of the energy transformation. They are demanding faster and more transparent actions that would guarantee cleaner air for local residents and compliance with environmental standards in the energy sector.
