Court in Kočani to decide whether Iva Mihaylova will receive treatment in Bulgaria
Bulgarian citizen Iva Mihaylova is awaiting an important decision from the court in the city of Kočani, North Macedonia. The young woman was involved in a severe traffic accident on the road between Kočani and Štip, which resulted in serious injuries. Since October, she has been forced to remain abroad and is unable to return to her home country to continue her recovery.
The main problem facing Iva is an administrative travel ban preventing her from leaving the country while the legal proceedings are ongoing. Her relatives and lawyers are insisting that she be granted permission to travel to Bulgaria, where she can undergo specialized medical treatment. According to her family, the care she needs is more accessible and effective in Bulgarian hospitals.
The case has attracted the attention of the public and institutions, as it concerns every person's right to adequate medical care. The lawyers representing Iva hope that the court will take into account the humanitarian reasons and her health condition when considering the request to lift the ban.
At the moment, everyone is awaiting the next court hearing, which should provide clarity on the matter. If the judicial authorities allow Iva Mihaylova to return home, she will be able to continue her rehabilitation in Bulgaria, surrounded by her loved ones and under the supervision of Bulgarian specialists.
