Bulgarians travel abroad due to lack of flu vaccines
In recent weeks, many Bulgarians have chosen to travel to neighboring countries to get flu vaccinations. The reason for this is the delay in deliveries of the preparations to the pharmacy network in the country, which creates difficulties for those wishing to get immunized on time.
Health experts remind that the autumn period is the most suitable time for vaccination, as the body needs about two to three weeks to build the necessary immunity. Due to the shortage of supplies in Bulgaria, people who want to protect themselves from the seasonal flu are seeking alternatives outside the country's borders.
The situation is sparking serious discussions regarding supply logistics and the planning of immunization campaigns. Patients are expressing concern that the delay could lead to higher morbidity during the peak months of the flu epidemic, which usually occurs at the beginning of next year.
The Ministry of Health assures that work is being done to secure additional doses. However, at the moment, demand significantly exceeds supply in many of the large cities in Bulgaria.
For now, citizens who have the opportunity continue to take advantage of vaccination services in neighboring countries. Health authorities advise people to monitor information at pharmacies and consult with their personal physicians on the best way to protect themselves from viral infections during the upcoming winter season.
