Over 70 online platforms are selling medicines illegally in Bulgaria

The Ministry of Health in Bulgaria has warned of a serious problem regarding the unregulated sale of medicinal products on the internet. According to official data, authorities have identified over 73 online platforms that offer medications without the necessary authorization.

Among the identified sites, more than 30 specialize primarily in the sale of medicines that do not meet legal safety requirements. Experts emphasize that purchasing medications from unlicensed sources poses significant health risks to consumers, as the quality and origin of the products are not guaranteed.

Institutions are working actively on the case to restrict access to these platforms. The goal is to prevent the distribution of counterfeit or dangerous drugs that could threaten people's lives. Inspections of the online space are continuing, with a focus on ensuring compliance with strict regulations for the trade of pharmaceutical products.

Health authorities are urging citizens to be extremely cautious when shopping online. It is recommended that medicines be purchased only from officially registered pharmacies that are authorized to conduct distance selling. Information about legitimate online pharmacies can be found on the website of the Bulgarian Drug Agency.
