New data on air pollution from TPP Bobov Dol
The organization Greenpeace Bulgaria has published alarming data regarding the operation of TPP Bobov Dol. According to the information released, the power plant was responsible for serious violations of environmental standards at the beginning of 2026.
The environmentalists' analysis shows that in a period of just 21 days, five cases of exceeding the permissible levels of sulfur dioxide (SO2) were recorded. In addition, two violations related to emissions of fine particulate matter (PM), which are dangerous to human health, were also reported.
These data call into question the energy facility's compliance with environmental standards. Greenpeace claims that pollution from the plant has a significant negative impact on air quality in the region.
At this time, trade union organizations and the management of TPP Bobov Dol have not provided an official response to the accusations. The situation remains a subject of public attention, as the issue of air purity is of key importance to the residents of the area.
