Qatar Airways suspends its flights to Sofia
One of the largest airlines in the world, Qatar Airways, has made the decision to cease its operations in the Bulgarian market. The carrier is stopping the direct flights that connected Sofia with Doha, the capital of Qatar.
This air route was key to Bulgaria's connection with the Middle East and Asia. Through the airport in Doha, many Bulgarian passengers had the opportunity to easily reach distant destinations all over the world. The suspension of flights means that passengers will have to look for alternative routes for their travels.
Along with the termination of flights, the company is also closing its office in Sofia. At the moment, the airline has not specified concrete reasons for leaving the Bulgarian market, but the decision is final and will come into effect in the near future.
For Bulgarian passengers and businesses, this is a significant change, as one of the most important direct links to the Persian Gulf region is being severed. Passengers who have already purchased tickets for future dates are advised to contact the airline for refunds or rebooking on other flights.
