Political debate: Democratic Bulgaria insists on convening the Consultative Council on National Security
The Democratic Bulgaria coalition has expressed serious reservations regarding the creation of a new Security Council under the Council of Ministers. Instead, the political formation insists on convening the Consultative Council on National Security (CCNS) under the President of the Republic of Bulgaria.
According to representatives of Democratic Bulgaria, the creation of new structures under the government could lead to a duplication of functions and unnecessary bureaucracy. They believe that existing institutions should work more effectively, rather than relying on new administrative bodies whose powers are not entirely clear.
For their part, supporters of the new council argue that it is necessary for better coordination between the various security services in the country. They emphasize that the dynamic international situation requires more flexible solutions and a faster response from the executive branch.
The CCNS, which is convened by the President, is a body in which the leaders of the parliamentary-represented parties and senior state officials participate. Democratic Bulgaria believes that this format is more suitable for achieving a national consensus on key topics related to defense and foreign policy.
The issue remains the subject of intense discussion in the National Assembly. It is expected that in the coming weeks, the political forces will find a common solution that will ensure the stability of state institutions and the effective protection of national interests.
