Important changes in the structure of the state energy sector are ahead

The Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) is preparing for significant structural changes, which are part of the commitments made under the Recovery and Resilience Plan. The main goal of these reforms is the modernization of the energy sector and the fulfillment of the agreed-upon conditions with European partners.

A key part of the plan provides for "Mini Maritsa Iztok" and "TPP Maritsa Iztok 2" to be removed from the BEH structure. These two companies are of crucial importance for the country's energy security, as they provide a large part of electricity production through coal.

The process of separating the companies is planned to take place in 2025. Experts point out that this step is necessary to ensure greater transparency and efficiency in the management of state energy assets, as well as to meet the European Union's requirements for market liberalization.

Although the changes are large-scale, the government assures that they will be carried out carefully. The main priority remains the stability of the energy system and the preservation of jobs in the Stara Zagora region, where the main facilities of the complex are located.

It is expected that concrete administrative steps will be taken in the coming months to finalize this process. Bulgarian citizens and businesses will be watching closely to see if these reforms will lead to better management of the country's energy resources.
