Serious shortage of emergency doctors in Bulgaria
Bulgaria is facing a serious healthcare problem related to the lack of enough specialists in the emergency medical system. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, there are only 129 doctors working in the country who hold an official qualification in "Emergency Medicine."
This shortage of personnel creates serious difficulties for the functioning of emergency departments in hospitals. The lack of enough trained specialists means that the remaining medical staff is often overworked, which can affect the quality of patient care in critical situations.
Experts point out that the profession of an emergency doctor is extremely responsible and stressful, which often discourages young medical professionals. Low pay in the past and difficult working conditions are the main reasons why many specialists choose other areas of medicine or seek career opportunities abroad.
The Ministry of Health is considering various measures to address the crisis, including financial incentives and better opportunities for specialization. The goal is to attract more young doctors to choose working in emergency centers as their calling.
The issue of ensuring quality emergency care remains a priority for the state. Improving working conditions and raising the prestige of the profession are key steps that must be taken to ensure the safety of citizens in emergency cases.
