Vice President Iliana Iotova: Mental health must be a national priority
Vice President of Bulgaria Iliana Iotova sent an important message regarding the significance of mental health. According to her, society must stop being silent on the topic, as this "silence is particularly toxic" for individuals and for the development of the state.
In her statement, Iotova emphasized that mental health is not merely a personal issue for the individual, but a matter of strategic importance. She called on institutions and society to begin viewing mental care as a core national and global priority.
According to experts, such initiatives at a high state level are necessary to reduce the stigma associated with visiting a psychologist or psychiatrist. In Bulgaria, prejudices still exist that prevent many people from seeking timely professional help.
The Vice President believes that a change in the attitude toward mental health will lead to a healthier and more resilient society. Her appeal is aimed at making the topic a part of the country's official policies in order to ensure better support for all citizens.
