Environmental organization files complaint with the European Commission against Bobov Dol TPP
An environmental association has officially submitted a complaint to the European Commission regarding the operations of the Bobov Dol Thermal Power Plant. The organization is calling for the intervention of European institutions due to systemic violations of environmental standards in the region.
The complaint is accompanied by numerous court rulings that confirm the sanctions imposed on the power plant in recent years. According to the environmentalists, Bobov Dol TPP is responsible for serious air pollution, which directly threatens the health of local residents.
The documents show that despite the fines imposed, the problems with environmental quality in the area remain unresolved. The complainants argue that the measures taken so far have not been sufficient to force the plant's operator to strictly comply with European Union environmental legislation.
The European Commission is expected to review the case and assess whether Bulgaria has taken the necessary steps to address the pollution. Brussels' decision could lead to new requirements for the energy facility's operations and stricter control over harmful emissions in the country.
