Metropolitan Nikolay: The Unification is a symbol of peace and unity
On September 6, Bulgaria celebrates one of the most important holidays in its history – the Day of the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia. On the occasion of the anniversary, Metropolitan Nikolay of Plovdiv sent an important message to the Bulgarian people.
In his statement, the Metropolitan emphasized that the historical event of 1885 should not be viewed merely as a political act. According to him, the Unification is inextricably linked to the idea of peacemaking and the pursuit of understanding among people.
Metropolitan Nikolay noted that the lesson of history is clear – when Bulgarians are united and work together for the common good, they can achieve great success. He called on citizens to preserve peace and strive for harmony in society.
The celebrations in Plovdiv, which is the center of the events of 1885, brought together hundreds of people. The program included a solemn prayer service, military rituals, and the laying of wreaths at the Monument to the Unification.
The Day of the Unification remains a symbol of national dignity and the will of Bulgarians to determine their own destiny. It is a time to honor the heroes who, with their courage and determination, united our country.
