Bulgaria seeks international assistance to explore sunken ship
The Ministry of Defense of Bulgaria has announced that the country has officially requested assistance from international organizations. The goal is to conduct a detailed survey of a ship that has sunk in Bulgarian territorial waters by using a specialized underwater drone.
According to information from the department, the operation is planned for 2026. The use of modern underwater equipment is necessary to assess the condition of the vessel and to determine whether it poses a potential danger to the environment or shipping in the area.
Authorities emphasize that such missions require complex logistical preparation and close cooperation with experts from abroad. International assistance will provide access to technologies that Bulgaria does not currently possess, which will allow for more precise mapping of the object on the seabed of the Black Sea.
At this time, no details are being reported regarding the origin of the ship or the reasons for its sinking. It is expected that the parameters of the joint work with international partners will be clarified in the coming months so that the project can begin on schedule in 2026.
