MEPs react sharply to the detention of a Bulgarian woman in North Macedonia
A group of Members of the European Parliament have expressed serious concern regarding the case of Bulgarian citizen Iva Mihaylova, who is currently in custody in the Republic of North Macedonia. According to reports, the young woman was detained by judicial authorities in Skopje, which has sparked a sharp reaction at the international level.
The main issue raised by the MEPs is the lack of adequate medical care for Mihaylova. Despite her health condition, local authorities in Skopje are refusing to allow her to undergo life-saving treatment abroad. This decision puts the Bulgarian citizen's life at risk and raises questions regarding the observance of human rights.
The case is being closely monitored by Bulgarian institutions and representatives of the European Parliament. Diplomatic efforts are focused on securing access to the specialized medical care that the woman urgently needs.
