Bulgaria and Romania accelerate project for better navigation on the Danube
Bulgaria and Romania have begun active discussions to accelerate the large-scale project known as FAST Danube II. The goal of the initiative is to improve navigation conditions in the shared section of the Danube River that connects the two neighboring countries.
The project is of great importance to the region's economy, as the Danube River is a key transport corridor for Europe. Currently, navigation in some parts of the river is hindered, which impedes the efficient transport of goods and cargo. Through FAST Danube II, activities are planned for dredging and maintaining the riverbed to ensure the safe passage of vessels throughout the year.
Improved infrastructure will allow for greater intensity of trade exchange and will make water transport more attractive to businesses. This is important not only for Bulgarian ports but also for the entire logistics chain in Southeast Europe.
The implementation of the project is expected to contribute to better connectivity and economic growth in the border regions. Both countries are continuing their joint work to secure the necessary funding and technical preparation for the successful execution of the activities on the river.
