Bulgaria is open to dialogue with North Macedonia without ultimatums

Bulgaria has reaffirmed its readiness for a constructive dialogue with the Republic of North Macedonia. Vice President Iliana Iotova stated that our country remains open to talks, provided they are conducted without the imposition of ultimatums and with full compliance with European policies.

Sofia's position remains unchanged regarding the European integration of our neighbor. According to the Bulgarian authorities, any negotiations must be based on good neighborly relations and the fulfillment of international commitments, which are part of the common European Union framework.

In her statement, Iotova emphasized that Bulgaria does not accept attempts at pressure or deviations from the already established rules for EU accession. The focus remains on protecting the national interest and ensuring the rights of citizens who identify as Bulgarian in North Macedonia.

The topic of relations between the two countries remains key to Bulgaria's foreign policy. It is expected that the dialogue will continue through diplomatic channels, with the goal of finding lasting solutions that lead to more stable and calm relations in the region.
