Eurostat: Nearly 30% of young Bulgarians do not exercise actively
New data from the European statistical office Eurostat reveal a worrying trend among the young generation in Bulgaria. According to the study, 28.4% of people aged between 16 and 29 do not engage in any physical activity outside of their workplace duties.
A lack of movement in daily life is a serious problem that affects the health of young people. Experts warn that a sedentary lifestyle can lead to a number of long-term health problems, including cardiovascular diseases and musculoskeletal issues.
The data show that despite the availability of various opportunities for sports and recreation, a significant portion of young people in the country choose to spend their free time without physical exertion. This raises the question of the need for a more active promotional policy for a healthy lifestyle among adolescents and young workers.
The results of the 2025 study are a signal for institutions and society to pay more attention to physical culture. Encouraging sports and movement is key to improving the quality of life and the overall health of the nation.
