Yellow code for dangerous heat across almost the entire country
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a first-degree warning – a yellow code – for high temperatures across almost the entire territory of Bulgaria. The weather is expected to be hot, which poses health risks, especially during the noon and afternoon hours.
The warning covers a large part of the country, including the districts of Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, and Lovech. In these regions, the mercury in thermometers will rise significantly, reaching levels that require increased caution from citizens.
Experts advise people to avoid direct sun exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. It is important to drink enough fluids, especially water, and to prefer light foods. Special attention should be paid to children, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses, as they are the most vulnerable during extreme heat.
In addition to health recommendations, specialists remind people to wear light-colored clothing made of natural fabrics and hats to protect themselves from the sun's rays. If staying outdoors is unavoidable, it is best to seek shaded areas and take frequent breaks.
The heatwave is expected to continue over the coming days. Citizens should regularly monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings from the authorities in order to plan their activities safely.
