The Ministry of Health is opening new cancer screening centers

The Bulgarian Ministry of Health has announced a large-scale initiative to improve the early diagnosis of oncological diseases in the country. The goal of the project is to facilitate citizens' access to free examinations and tests by opening specialized screening centers in all regions.

Minister of Health Katya Ivkova confirmed that the department has already secured the necessary medical supplies. She assured the public that the purchased screening tests have a long shelf life, reaching until 2029. This ensures that the campaign will be sustainable and able to cover a large number of patients over the coming years.

Currently, experts from the ministry are working on finalizing the list of locations where the examination points will be situated. It is expected that official information regarding which hospitals and medical centers will participate in the program, as well as the procedure for booking appointments, will be published very soon.

This initiative is part of the state's efforts to reduce cancer mortality through the early detection of problems. Health authorities are urging citizens to take advantage of the opportunity for prevention, as regular screenings are the most effective way to ensure successful treatment.

An additional awareness campaign is forthcoming, which will inform the population about the benefits of screening. The new centers are expected to begin operations in stages by the end of the year.
