Political tension in Bulgaria: Dispute over stance on the war in Ukraine
In recent days, a serious dispute has arisen within the Bulgarian political sphere between two of the major political formations. The cause of the tension is accusations related to our country's position on the war in Ukraine and the future of the conflict.
From the "Progressive Bulgaria" party, they categorically denied the claims that they had called for Ukraine to surrender to Russia. According to representatives of the formation, such words have never been spoken by their members during official discussions or media appearances.
For their part, "Democratic Bulgaria" expressed serious criticism toward their opponents. They accuse "Progressive Bulgaria" of spreading positions that contradict the country's Euro-Atlantic path and undermine support for Kyiv.
"Progressive Bulgaria" described these accusations as "yet another insinuation" and an attempt at political manipulation. According to them, such claims aim solely to create division in society and discredit the party before the voters.
At the moment, the political debate on the topic continues, with both sides remaining in their positions. This conflict shows how sensitive the topic of the war in Ukraine remains in Bulgarian political life and how it influences the relationships between the main parties in parliament.
