The Commission for Protection of Competition is investigating the deal for TPP Maritsa Iztok 3
The Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) has launched an in-depth investigation into the planned deal involving TPP Maritsa Iztok 3. The regulator is analyzing whether the transfer of the power plant's assets complies with the rules for free competition in the Bulgarian energy market.
One of the main conditions of the deal relates to assets for electricity production from renewable sources. Experts from the commission will examine how these assets will be separated and what their role will be after the finalization of the sale.
TPP Maritsa Iztok 3 is a key facility for Bulgaria's energy security. For this reason, the CPC's decision is being followed with great interest by businesses and institutions, as a change in ownership could affect electricity prices and the stability of the country's energy system.
Currently, the regulator is collecting additional information from all parties involved in the deal. It is expected that upon completion of the analysis, the commission will issue an official opinion on whether the deal can be approved without additional conditions or if restrictions will be imposed to protect the market.
