Burgas unveils new opportunities for medical residents
The healthcare system in Burgas is preparing for an important expansion aimed at improving medical services in the region. Starting September 1, 2026, a new residency position for infectious diseases will open in the city, which is a key step in addressing the needs of local hospitals.
In addition to the infectious disease specialist position, the municipality and health authorities have announced the opening of 14 more residency spots in various medical fields. This initiative aims to attract young doctors to the city and ensure better care for patients in the long term.
The shortage of specialists is a serious challenge for many hospitals in the country, which is why such measures are of great importance. By providing new training positions, Burgas strives to retain young professionals and improve the quality of healthcare in the region.
Details regarding the application process for these positions are expected to be published separately by the respective medical institutions. The announced spots are part of a strategy to strengthen the medical capacity of Burgas over the coming years.
