Ministry of Defense negotiates earlier delivery of F-16 fighter jets
Minister of Defense Dimitar Stoyanov held important talks with his American partners regarding the modernization of the Bulgarian Air Force. The main topic of the discussions was the possibility of accelerating the delivery of the F-16 fighter jets that Bulgaria expects to receive.
Currently, our country relies on outdated aviation equipment, which makes the acquisition of the new aircraft a key priority for national security. Delays in deliveries create serious challenges for maintaining the combat readiness of the Bulgarian army.
In addition to the issue of delivery timelines, Minister Stoyanov also discussed alternative options for protecting Bulgaria's airspace. This includes cooperation with NATO partners who can assist in securing our skies until the new fighter jets enter service.
These negotiations are part of the state's efforts to ensure better protection of its borders and to fulfill its commitments to the Alliance. It is expected that in the coming months, it will become clear whether the schedule for receiving the aircraft will be changed in Bulgaria's favor.
