New data on air pollution from TPP Bobov Dol

Greenpeace Bulgaria has published alarming data regarding air quality around the Bobov Dol Thermal Power Plant (TPP). According to the information released, the plant is responsible for serious violations of environmental standards at the beginning of 2026.

Analysis of the data shows that in a period of just 21 days, five exceedances of sulfur dioxide (SO2) levels were recorded. Furthermore, two exceedances of the permissible concentrations of fine particulate matter (PM) were also reported in the area.

These values raise questions regarding the safety of the environment and the health of people living near the plant. Greenpeace claims that the pollution from the Bobov Dol TPP has a significant toxic impact on the region.

At present, trade union organizations and the plant's management have not officially confirmed these figures, and public discussions on the topic are ongoing. Environmental organizations are calling for stricter control and transparency in the measurement of harmful emissions.

The situation remains under observation, with institutions expected to conduct further inspections. Residents of the region are awaiting clear answers regarding the measures that will be taken to limit the harmful impact on nature.
