Dead dolphin discovered on Kavatsi beach near Sozopol
Another sad case of a deceased marine mammal has been recorded along the Southern Black Sea coast. The body of a dolphin was washed ashore on Kavatsi beach, near the town of Sozopol, local media reported.
The incident was reported by citizens who spotted the animal on the shore. At this time, no details have been provided regarding the causes that led to the mammal's death, nor how long the body had been lying in the sand.
Eco-inspectors from the regional offices have already been notified of the case. They are tasked with organizing the safe removal of the body from the beach to prevent potential health risks to tourists and to maintain the cleanliness of the area.
Similar incidents occur periodically along the Bulgarian coast. Experts remind the public that upon finding dead marine animals, citizens should immediately notify the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water (RIEW) instead of attempting to move them themselves.
The case at Kavatsi beach once again raises the issue of protecting marine fauna in the Black Sea. Authorities are expected to conduct an inspection to determine whether the animal's death was caused by natural factors or human activity.
