Important for tourists: Medical services in Sunny Beach are not covered by the National Health Insurance Fund
The summer tourist season in Bulgaria is in full swing, and thousands of people are choosing to spend their holidays at our largest seaside resort, Sunny Beach. Despite the high demand for services, tourists should be careful if they need to seek medical help during their stay.
A BNT investigation shows that there are ten medical centers operating in Sunny Beach that are available to vacationers. However, it is important to know that none of these centers have a contract with the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
This means that patients who visit these clinics must pay the full price of examinations and procedures out of pocket. The health insurance contributions that citizens pay in Bulgaria do not cover the costs of medical care in these private facilities.
Experts advise tourists to be prepared for such situations. Before you go on vacation, it is a good idea to check what the emergency assistance options are in the area and to have additional funds available for unforeseen medical expenses.
To avoid unpleasant surprises, always ask about the price of the service as soon as you enter the medical center. Being informed is the best way to protect your health and maintain the peace of mind of your vacation.
