The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency destroyed nearly 800 kg of hazardous products

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) has undertaken a large-scale operation to withdraw hazardous goods from the market. Inspectors destroyed nearly 800 kilograms of food of animal origin that did not meet legal requirements for quality and safety.

The bulk of the confiscated products, over 750 kilograms, had expired. Furthermore, the goods lacked the mandatory identification markings, making their origin unclear and potentially hazardous to consumer health.

In addition to this shipment, experts seized and destroyed another 40 kilograms of food products, in which serious violations were also discovered. All these goods were sent to a rendering plant to ensure they would not re-enter the retail network.

The agency reminds the public that inspections of retail outlets across the country continue on a daily basis. The goal of these actions is to prevent the sale of substandard food that could threaten the health of Bulgarian citizens.

Experts advise consumers to be cautious when making purchases and to always check labels for expiration dates and the presence of an identification mark. In case of suspected irregularities, citizens can report them to the BFSA through official communication channels.
