New high-speed railway line connects Istanbul with the Bulgarian border
Turkey has completed an important stage in the construction of its high-speed railway network, which reaches the city of Edirne, near the border with Bulgaria. This project is of great importance for the region, as it significantly improves transport connectivity between the two neighboring regions.
The new line drastically changes travel time between Istanbul and Edirne. While passengers previously spent about four hours on the road, the new train will cover the distance in just an hour and a half. This makes travel much more convenient and faster for the thousands of people who regularly cross the border for work or tourism.
In addition to passenger transport, the project also has serious economic benefits. Improved infrastructure will allow freight transport to become much more efficient. This will facilitate trade between Bulgaria and Turkey by shortening delivery times for goods and reducing logistics costs.
In the future, this railway connection is expected to further stimulate economic relations in the region. Optimizing transport is a key step towards better integration of transport corridors between Europe and Asia passing through Bulgarian territory.
