Good news: The Bulgarian women sought in Tibet and Nepal are safe
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria has announced encouraging information regarding our compatriots who found themselves in a critical situation in Asia. Following severe flooding in Tibet and Nepal, contact with some of the Bulgarian citizens in the region was lost, which caused serious concern among their loved ones.
The first Bulgarian woman who was reported missing in Tibet has been found. According to official data from our Foreign Ministry, she is in good health and her life is not in danger. Authorities confirmed that she is no longer being sought and is in a safe place.
Meanwhile, in Nepal, the situation for another Bulgarian citizen, Suzana Aleksieva, is also normalizing. She has already completed the necessary administrative procedures and has received a temporary travel document. This will allow her to return to Bulgaria as soon as possible.
Rescue teams in the region continue to work actively to deal with the aftermath of the natural disaster. Roads in the affected areas are heavily damaged, which hinders movement, but our diplomatic missions are maintaining constant contact with local authorities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges all Bulgarian citizens traveling abroad to monitor up-to-date information regarding safety in their respective countries. In case of need for assistance, they can contact Bulgarian embassies in the region at any time.
