New data on serious air pollution from TPP Bobov Dol
The organization Greenpeace Bulgaria has published alarming data regarding the operations of TPP Bobov Dol. According to the information released, the power plant recorded numerous violations of environmental standards within just the first three weeks of 2026.
Analyses show that over a period of 21 days, five instances of exceeded sulfur dioxide (SO2) levels and two instances of exceeded fine particulate matter (PM) levels were recorded. These indicators are directly linked to the harmful emissions released by the facility, which raises serious concerns about the air quality in the region.
Greenpeace claims that official institutions and trade union organizations are not presenting an objective picture of the plant's condition. According to the environmentalists, the actual pollution is significantly more dangerous to human health than is being publicly reported, which calls into question the compliance with environmental standards in the energy sector.
At present, the situation surrounding TPP Bobov Dol remains a subject of intense public interest. A response is expected from the regulatory authorities, who must verify the accuracy of the data and take the necessary measures to protect the environment and the health of the citizens.
