Court in Kočani to decide if Iva Mihaylova can receive treatment in Bulgaria
Bulgarian citizen Iva Mihaylova is awaiting an important decision from the court in the city of Kočani, North Macedonia. She was severely injured in a road traffic accident on the road between Kočani and Štip, which completely changed her life.
Since October, Iva has been forced to remain in her home in Kočani, as she is not permitted to leave the city. This restriction prevents the young woman from seeking specialized medical assistance and continuing her treatment in Bulgaria, where she hopes to receive better care.
The case has drawn public attention, as it concerns the right to freedom of movement for the purpose of medical treatment. Iva's loved ones hope that the judicial authorities in North Macedonia will show understanding toward her serious health condition and lift the travel ban.
At present, Iva Mihaylova's lawyers are continuing their efforts to convince the court that her relocation is necessary for her recovery. It is expected that in the coming days it will become clear whether she will receive permission to return to Bulgaria for the necessary medical procedures.
