New initiative unites major marathons in Bulgaria
Bulgarian marathons are uniting under a common initiative that aims to promote sports and a healthy lifestyle among citizens. The project seeks to popularize running as an accessible physical activity and attract more participants of all ages.
The first event to be held under the new name is the "DZI Marathon Burgas." The sports festival in the seaside city is scheduled for November 15, and it is expected to bring together hundreds of running enthusiasts and professional athletes.
The organizers plan to expand the scope of the initiative in the coming years. It is envisioned that from 2027, the marathons in Varna and Stara Zagora will also join the common brand by adopting the new name.
This change is part of a strategy for the development of mass running in the country. By uniting the major competitions, the goal is to improve organization and increase interest in sporting events across the different regions of Bulgaria.
The initiative is expected to contribute to a better sports culture and motivate more people to engage in active outdoor pursuits. The organizers invite everyone interested to prepare for the upcoming races and become part of the sports community.
