Environmental organization files complaint against Bobov Dol TPP with the European Commission
An environmental association has taken official action against the Bobov Dol thermal power plant. The organization has sent a formal complaint to the European Commission, urging intervention regarding the issue of air pollution in the region.
Numerous court rulings have been attached to the filed complaint. They prove that the power plant has been sanctioned repeatedly in recent years for failing to comply with environmental standards. According to the environmentalists, the plant's operations continue to have a negative impact on the health of local residents and the state of the environment.
The main argument of the complainants is that the fines imposed so far have not led to a lasting improvement in the situation. They hope that the institutions in Brussels will examine the case and force the plant's operator to take more serious measures to limit harmful emissions.
At this time, the management of Bobov Dol TPP has not yet issued an official comment on the matter. The European Commission is expected to review the evidence presented before deciding whether to initiate a procedure to verify compliance with European environmental legislation in Bulgaria.
