Ivaylo Mirchev: Bulgaria is sending contradictory signals to its Western partners
The co-chairman of the "Yes, Bulgaria" party, Ivaylo Mirchev, has leveled serious criticism at the country's current foreign policy line. According to him, Bulgaria is sending confusing messages to its allies in the European Union and NATO, which could harm the state's international reputation.
Mirchev drew attention to the activity of President Rumen Radev, noting that the head of state is conducting numerous meetings and trips. At the same time, the politician expressed concern regarding the conclusion of new energy deals, which, in his view, are not entirely transparent and raise questions among the public.
The main argument put forward by Ivaylo Mirchev is that the actions of the institutions currently appear to be a "pivot to the east." He emphasized that such a policy runs counter to Bulgaria's commitments to Euro-Atlantic integration and creates tension in relations with Western partners.
In conclusion, the politician insisted on more clarity and consistency in the management of the energy sector and foreign policy. He called on the institutions to act in a way that does not call into question the country's strategic direction, in order to avoid isolation and distrust from the international community.
