Greenpeace activists protested in front of Bobov Dol TPP
Activists from the environmental organization Greenpeace Bulgaria organized a protest action in front of the entrance of the Bobov Dol Thermal Power Plant. They unfurled a huge banner with the word "TOXIC," which translates from English as "toxic" or "poisonous."
The main goal of the participants in the action is to draw the attention of the public and institutions to the harmful impact of coal-fired power plants on the environment. According to the environmentalists, the plant's operations pollute the air and threaten the health of people in the region.
The protesters are demanding stricter control over the emissions of harmful gases released during coal combustion. They are calling for a faster transition to cleaner energy sources to reduce the country's dependence on fossil fuels.
Greenpeace emphasizes that such actions are part of their long-term campaign to protect nature in Bulgaria. The organization aims to encourage dialogue between energy companies, the state, and citizens regarding the future of the energy sector in the country.
At the moment, the management of Bobov Dol TPP has not issued an official comment regarding the action. The topic of the future of coal-fired power plants is expected to remain relevant in the context of European requirements for climate neutrality.
