The President presented the first mandate for forming a government
On May 7, the presidential institution took an important step toward resolving the political situation in the country. Vice President Iliana Iotova officially presented the first exploratory mandate to form a new cabinet to the largest political force in parliament – the coalition "We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria."
The presentation of the mandate is a key moment in the constitutional procedure triggered after the holding of parliamentary elections. According to Bulgarian legislation, the leading political force has a seven-day period in which it must propose the composition of a Council of Ministers or return the mandate unfulfilled.
Representatives of the coalition have already begun active discussions with the other parliamentary groups to seek support for their proposal. The goal is to reach an agreement on important priorities for the state that will ensure stable governance and avoid new early elections.
In the coming days, it will become clear whether the proposed ministers will receive the necessary majority in the National Assembly. If the first attempt proves unsuccessful, the procedure provides for the mandate to be presented to the second-largest political force in parliament.
Bulgarian citizens are closely following the development of these negotiations, as the formation of a regular government is of crucial importance for the economic stability and the European path of the country. It is expected that there will be more clarity regarding the future cabinet by the end of the week.
