Vice President Iliana Iotova's flight diverted due to technical issue in the US
Bulgarian Vice President Iliana Iotova experienced an unexpected change in her schedule during an official visit to the United States. The plane she was traveling on had to be diverted to Boston airport instead of the originally planned landing in New York.
The reason for this decision was the temporary closure of New York airports. The problem arose due to a severed cable that is essential for the operation of air traffic control systems. The damage was caused accidentally by construction crews working in the area.
The incident seriously affected the operations of airport authorities and led to delays and route changes for numerous flights in the region. The technical issue disrupted the normal functioning of the communication system that coordinates the safe takeoff and landing of aircraft.
The Vice President's administration confirmed that she and her team are safe. Despite the unforeseen situation, Iliana Iotova's program continues, and she is expected to travel to her final destination once air traffic normalizes.
