Bulgaria receives first tranche of 500 million euros for defense projects
Bulgaria has successfully received the first half-billion euros under the European SAFE mechanism. These funds are intended to finance projects in the field of defense, with the main goal being the strengthening of national security and the modernization of the armed forces.
Funding under the SAFE program is directed toward the acquisition of defense products that are manufactured entirely within the European Union. This requirement supports the European defense industry and encourages cooperation between member states in the security sector.
The main categories of products that will be purchased with these funds include ammunition and artillery equipment. These resources are essential for maintaining the combat readiness of the army and for fulfilling the country's commitments to NATO's collective defense.
The process of utilizing the funds will be strictly controlled to ensure that the investments meet European standards and the needs of the Bulgarian armed forces. It is expected that the acquisition of the new equipment will begin as soon as possible.
This financial support is an important step for Bulgaria in its efforts to modernize its defense infrastructure. Through its participation in such European mechanisms, the country not only improves its own defense power but also actively contributes to stability in the region.
